Over the summer, I made it a goal to work on my IMDB profile for days that I just didn't feel like writing. To be completely transparent, that was often. Stress really took a toll on me in 2021. I added all of the scripts that I've written that won awards in film festivals that have IMDB listings. Added new pictures, an updated bio and photo. ANDDD, the best part, worked on a short film as a writer's assistant that is currently in post-production, giving me my first credit on IMDB. It's basically saying that I did something official that was produced. DON'T, the short film, was my first production project, and I learned so much and met some awesome people, all over Skype. Relationships and experience were all I was looking for and I think I got the better end of the deal, for sure. As soon as it's finished and available for public view, I will share on here for you all to watch.

This year has been a rough roller coaster. I have wanted to make blog posts for months and all I can muster is what I've posted on TikTok. I have been in a fight of flight sort of position with my kids for too long, I literally couldn't turn my brain to something that wasn't fiction, specifically fantasy. So, here I am, sharing what I can. Like most of you know, I had hernia repair surgery earlier this year, recovery went well, and then towards the end of Summer, a whole bunch of things started happening to my body. Long story short, I figured out I have hypothyroidism. Finally, I'm on a good regimen of medicine and staying gluten free. The kids have been off and on at school or home sick, due to Covid precautions at the school.
Husband went on a work trip and I'm just now getting a moment of peace, after a good long nap, after 7 days of being a single parent to 3 heathens. I'm hoping to finish a script I'm writing in the next few days so I can move on to writing Awaken. It's been a long road regarding Awaken. I have a lot that I want to happen still for Maeleigh and the gang, and it's looking like I will be adding one more book to fit it all in appropriately. Unlike previous years, I probably won't be adding a pre-order for the final book as close together next year. Maybe just Awaken in the Spring and UNKNOWN TITLE in the Winter. I will try my best not to babble here....
Since discovering TikTok my love for reading fantasy has been renewed- Thanks #Booktok. And that's also lit a new fire in my creativeness, and I've been getting a lot of work done on the two projects. But I've decided that I can't focus on Awaken until after I'm done with the script. My brain and body just can't handle the multiple projects like I have in the past.
It's a blow to the ego as well as the bank account as an author. The momentum has been lost with the virus wreaking havoc for moms and dads who have to work and keep kids from killing each other and still make sure they finish their homework. Which means less people are reading and more people are waiting for the next book. I hate that I haven't finished and produced anything other than scripts since February.
One of my goals for the new year, is to start the newsletter back up. It just wasn't possible to keep up with all that was going on in 2021. Something else I'm looking forward to, is sharing the brand-new pop-sockets for phones with Alpha Girl art. I'm working on making it a part of the newsletter subscribers. I'm going to have to make a list of all these things.
Thank you for attending this rambling of thoughts and I hope to have something worthwhile for you all to read in the next newsletter.
This week I've been focusing on editing a new pilot script that a friend gave me full notes on. The notes alone were amazing, thank you Julie! A feel that the changes I made in this new revision really rounded out a lot of the characters and made the story a lot more compelling as well as believable.
Also, I've been working on a new wave of query letters to managers and agencies with the guidance of another friends, thank you Stewart! So far, I've already gotten a script request, but I think it may be a standard response, so I am remaining realistically optimistic.
Now, I'm working on my new tv pilot script called Waking Beauty. I started it a few months ago and only got to page 5 and now I'm on 14. Woot!
