“I must have projected the thought pretty loudly because the next thing I knew he gripped the handle near my head to pull himself close, his nose nearly touching mine. Not moving another inch, he waited there for something, just searching my face. I almost opened my mouth to ask what it was he was looking for when a need washed over me to do something I’d never done before with a boy. The ends of his shoulder length hair that hung forward a little, brushing his jaw, called out for me to lift my own hand and found myself touching it. Faintly, at first, with just my finger tips and then when that wasn’t enough, I combed them through the bulk of it to rake back to the nape of his neck. At that exact moment, we moved to one another like magnets.”
